A WordPerfect batch is easy to call finished. The output folder fills with DOCX, PDF, and Markdown. The original .wpd files can stay on the share. Then a matter number, a clause, or a correspondent's name has to be found again, and File Explorer looks at filenames. WordPerfect titles were often opaque. They still are after conversion.

That is the quiet failure mode for legal, municipal, and firm archives. The set is modern. It is still opaque. You open twenty DOCX files because the sentence you remember is inside one of them, not in the name.

Keep more than one library on the rail: this year's matter output, a municipal decade, a one-off box from a retired partner. Rename an entry so it reads like a project, pin the ones you reopen, and remove a library from the rail when that box is closed. Removing it does not delete the files on disk.

Search the paragraph, not just the filename

The local full-text index reads converted DOCX, PDF, HTML, Markdown, and text. A quoted phrase such as "hold harmless" or a docket number will surface the document that actually contains it. Refine narrows the list by type or folder when a common word returns too much.

Saved searches keep those queries as named collections on that library. One click reapplies the query and any tag you stored with it. History on this PC records opens, indexes, conversion batches, saved-search runs, and review-pack exports, so you can see whether last month's batch was already indexed.

Preview tabs, bookmarks, tags, related files

In-app preview tabs open a converted WordPerfect document without launching Word for every glance. Find-in-document stays in the tab. Bookmark the briefs and letters that still matter and put them in bookmark groups (a matter, a decade, a records series) so the next session starts from a short list.

Tags and the relationship graph are local navigation: how files on disk share a folder, a filename stem, or terms the index already extracted. They help you jump from a converted reply to the memo it answers. They are not an agent and they do not leave this machine.

A review pack instead of a folder dump

When a reviewer needs a subset: the hits for one phrase, the bookmarked exhibits, a multi-select from search, export a review pack. The library copies those files (relative paths preserved when it can) and writes index.csv and summary.md. That is a bounded package for a ticket or a share. The rest of the converted archive stays on your disk.

From Conversion Complete to Welcome back

When a batch finishes, Conversion Complete offers Open in Conversion Library for Plus: index the new files and focus this run. View output folder still opens Explorer. Check Always open Library after convert if you want the library to come up with the dialog every time. The dialog stays visible so the counts and the preference remain in view.

Welcome back appears when you open the library without a folder: Resume library on the last or pinned WordPerfect output, or Browse folder for a different tree. Standard users see the Plus card on that same completion dialog and can still choose Just see the files. The library window waits for a Plus key.
